Founded in 1907 in Birmingham, Alabama, Protective Life Insurance Company is one of America’s oldest and most trusted insurance providers. In 1969, Protective Life embarked on an ambitious expansion plan, extending coverage to include all 50 states. As a national insurance carrier, Protective Life now offers three major categories of products: life and health insurance, asset protection, and retirement, savings and investment products.
Protective Life provides critical illness insurance products for recipients age 0-64, offering a lump benefit sum upon diagnosis of a covered condition. Policies are guaranteed renewable for life, and no waiting period is required on most covered conditions. The initial benefit amount reduces by $50% on the policyholder’s 65th birthday, or on the 5th anniversary of the policy if the applicant is over 60.
Covered conditions include cardiac arrest, stroke, invasive cancer, major organ transplant, end-stage renal failure, advanced Alzheimer’s disease, blindness, deafness, paralysis, major burns and accidental loss of speech. Cancer in situ and coronary bypass surgery draw 25% of benefits, and angioplasty draws 10%. If the policyholder dies, all premiums paid so far are returned to beneficiaries.
